Annuals - A Favorite Plant For Gardeners and Landscapes
There are many flowing plants available on the market; annuals are perhaps the colorful and diverse You Can find. The volume of textures colors, sizes, and forms, has placed annuals a favorite with gardeners and plant lovers.
With so many varieties available, each species response to disease and pest infestations can be quite different. Some annuals seem to be completely resistant to diseases and insects; yet, others need frequent inspection and care to stay healthy. When it's time to shop for your annuals, keep in mind the typical climate where you live and choose the plants accordingly. If living in a Southwestern state such as Arizona, which typically has desert like weather year round, don't select a plant which prefers frequent watering. Understanding the needs of different annual varieties and the typical climate where you, you'll likely be successful growing annual plants. Don't trust Your Own judgment? No problem. The local gardening center or plant nursery can point you in the direction of the best annuals for your needs.
While out in the garden, look closely at your plants for the presence of insects or infestation. Look underneath the leaves and at stems for signs of damage. Some clear indicators include holes and small cracks along stems; to large pieces missing from otherwise healthy leafs. The best way to eliminate garden pests is by identifying the problem in its early stage.
Watering is a necessity for annuals however, avoid overhead watering of whenever you can. That's because excessive water on the foliage encourages different types of diseases. Plant diseases thrive in moisture, therefore standing water on annuals is a surefire way to blanket your garden with present disease, or encourage a new one to develop and spread
To water your gardens use soaker hose or drip irrigation if at all possible. The cost is slightly more that an ordinary garden hose, but you control how much water a given area receives. These methods provide a deeper, more through watering which is much better for this type of plant. Watering early in the morning is best since little water is lost to evaporation, thereby providing more H2O to the roots.
Spider mites, white flies, aphids and caterpillars all love to feed on annuals. If you find any insects on your plant, place them in a plastic bag and drive down to a garden center for identification. Once identified get their recommendation for eliminating the critters from your garden. Remember, you must identify the pests first, before your can effectively rid them from your garden plants.
Also, it's important to follow the package warnings and guidelines for your safety and the plants well being. This advice should be followed whenever treating your plants for disease or insect problems.
